One of the most explosive batsmen in the world, Rohit Sharma, who is known for hitting huge sixes, showed his emotions as a son during an event at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Friday. India’s former Test captain, who called time on his career in the longest format, was present at the historic unveiling of a stand named after him at the stadium, where he started playing cricket. This was a much needed act by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) after the DDCA named two stands at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi after Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir last year.
However, what truly amazed fans was his deep sense of protectiveness toward his parents, when he stepped down from the stage to accompany his parents, especially his mother. It was a special moment for both Rohit Sharma and his fans. The video took no time to go viral on the internet, where the former Indian Test captain received applause as fans praised him for his gesture towards his parents. The internet captioned the video ‘proud parents of the Boss’.

India’s Hitman said that it would be a ‘surreal’ moment for him when he represents his IPL franchise Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium with a stand named after him; however, he added that it would be a much better feeling to represent India on that ground. He gave a speech where he expressed gratitude towards his parents and his family including his brother and wife, calling them a special part of his life. He thanked all of them for all the sacrifice they made to help him become a star of Indian cricket. Rohit then concluded his speech by jokingly saying that his team must be waiting for him to stop speaking so that they could return to the training session. India’s former Test captain was not the only one to be honoured as MCA inaugurated two more stands named after Ajit Wadekar and Sharad Pawar.
