Former actress Tanushree Dutta, who started the #MeToo campaign in Bollywood by making sexual misconduct allegations against her ‘Horn Ok Pleassss’ co-star Nana Patekar, had even accused ‘The Kashmir Files’ director Vivek Agnihotri of harassment on the sets of ‘Chocolate’. While the 2005 film marked Agnihotri’s directorial debut, the harassment allegations against him had rattled the entire fraternity.

In an interview with DNA (in 2008), Dutta had levelled harassment allegations against the director as she shared the entire episode that happened on the sets of ‘Chocolate’. While Agnihotri asked her to give cues to co-star Irrfan Khan for a close-up scene, the words used by him shocked the actress and others on the set. ‘Kapde utaar ke naach uske saamne,’ is what she claims he told her in the interaction. While the former offered to give cues and the latter refused any assistance with his close up shoot. Meanwhile, responding to the allegations levelled against him, Agnihotri posted a long statement regarding the incident on social media.

While the entire episode stunned the entire film industry, Agnihotri’s recent release ‘The Kashmir Film’ continues to excel at the box office. According to trade expert Taran Adarsh, the film which is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir Insurgency, has gone on to earn Rs 248.23 crore in the domestic circuit.

While many renowned personalities, including PM Narendra Modi, have extended their support to ‘The Kashmir Files’, they have even praised Agnihotri and his team for their efforts. Read a few more interesting articles about ‘The Kashmir Files’ here:
