Watch: Viral Video Of Bizarre Oreo Pakodas In The Making Is Triggering Twitter As It Should!

Food trends and I are two sides of the same coin. We have to exist on the same plane (because how to escape social media and commentary) but never see eye to eye. Yes, if you haven’t guessed it already, I’m a purist and I can’t stand the horror that ensues in the name and guise of experimentation. Because why ruin something that is already great? Right! Wrong; apparently the street vendors of the world have undertaken the task of cooking up a storm on social media after dishing out weird and borderline bizarre recipes including monstrosities like maggi milkshake, butter chicken golgappe and the last one that hurt the sweet-lover in me – rasgulla chaat.

I had written about it here: Somebody Made The Monstrosity That Is Rasgulla Chaat And Twitter Can’t Stomach It

Like that wasn’t enough, a food stall in Ahmedabad is selling something called Oreo ke pakode. No, I didn’t mean onion. It’s the popular cream biscuit which has arrived at the market in a brand new avatar, coated in a salty batter of chickpea flour and deep fried like other indian fritters. And being served with cut chillies. I’m not making this up. Uploaded by Foodie Incarnate, there is a video of Oreo pakode in the making and it is bound to raise your brows. See for yourself.

Needless to say, Twitter is triggered at the sight of the blasphemous creation and calling for immediate action to terminate such citings from the timelines. So much so that the people of Ahmedabad are apologetic to bring this thing into the world of food trends.

Honestly, it was okay till eating idlis on ice-cream sticks, for this obsession to reinvent favorites for a few (read thousands) likes and views is getting a little out of hand. No?
