After staying indoors for over a year (due to the pandemic), many food lovers tried to get creative in the kitchen, irrespective of the results, while some even went to the extent of learning the art of baking during the lockdown phase. However, creative food can never beat the satisfaction that comfort food provides us. Apart from helping us get over our so-called hunger pangs, they are the first things that come to your mind when we think about food. And the latest conversation that has picked up the pace on the internet is about Britannia’s Bourbon biscuit’s.
Sharing his views on the popular Indian biscuit, journalist Vir Sanghvi quizzed its manufacturers if the size of Bourbon has decreased over the years. Taking to the microblogging site, he wrote “Is it just my imagination (or greed) but didn’t Bourbon biscuits used to be longer?” And within no time, Sanghvi’s tweet had grabbed the attention of many Twitter users (and Bourbon lovers), who too joined in the conversation and shared their views.

Not in the last 6 years at least, Vir. And we hope you have been having us more often than that😊

While Britannia responded to the tweet stating that the size of the popular Bourbon biscuit hasn’t changed in the past six years, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra too joined the banter and requested Britannia to bring her childhood favourite Orange Cream biscuits. Post which the Twitter banter turned into an interesting conversation, focusing on how the taste and size of the biscuits changed in the past few years.
They have changed too many of their recipes. Even Bourbon tastes different after the 2015 revamp

The taste, texture and size all changed sometime back…

True. Previously,it was more smooth, slender, firm, longer and chocolaty. Now more soda and less butter. And biscuits start breaking, while opening the packet.

I also feel it has undergone a shape change since before (may be from more than 6 years) and the flavour also seems different

Yes the flavour has definitely changed. I miss the old packaging too.

While the biscuit manufacturing giants continue to have a stronghold in the Indian market, Twitterati flooded the microblogging site with requests to retain the original taste of their favourite childhood food items.
